Welcome to

Gardena Lacrosse

A community-based youth lacrosse program focused on fundamentals, teamwork, and long-term development.

Gardena Lacrosse is a recreational youth program designed to introduce and grow the game in Gardena. Our focus is on teaching the sport the right way while building confidence, discipline, and a positive team environment for kids of all experience levels.

We believe lacrosse should be accessible, structured, and fun. Our program emphasizes fundamentals, safety, and consistent coaching so players can learn, improve, and enjoy the process together.

The Program

Gardena Lacrosse runs as a seasonal recreational program for boys and girls in kindergarten through 8th grade. Players are placed on teams by age and experience level, with an emphasis on learning, effort, and sportsmanship.

Practices focus on core skills, team concepts, and preparing players for real game situations. As players get older, structure and game understanding increase while keeping the environment supportive and fun.

  • We organize practices by age and experience so players are learning in a safe, supportive environment that makes sense for where they are. Our younger groups focus on fundamentals, movement, and having fun, while older groups are introduced to more structure, positioning, and game concepts. Every practice is planned in advance and designed to keep players active, engaged, and improving throughout the session.

  • We teach the core skills of lacrosse the right way from the start: catching, throwing, cradling, ground balls, footwork, spacing, and shooting. As players progress, we connect those skills to real game situations so they understand not just how to perform a skill, but when and why to use it. Our goal is to build confident players who can think the game, not just memorize drills.

  • We use lacrosse as a tool to teach teamwork, communication, and accountability. Players learn how to support teammates, compete with respect, and give consistent effort regardless of the score. Coaches reinforce positive behavior, encourage leadership, and help players build confidence in a team setting that values growth over results.

  • We run a true seasonal program with consistent practices and scheduled games. This structure helps players build routine, see progress over time, and understand what it means to be part of a team. Games give players the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in practice in a competitive but supportive environment. Schedules are shared once teams are finalized.

  • We bring experience to everything we do. Our staff includes coaches who played Division I lacrosse and competed at the highest levels of the game. We know how to teach lacrosse properly, safely, and progressively. Our coaching approach focuses on clear instruction, strong fundamentals, and helping every player improve at their own pace while enjoying the game.

The Community

Gardena Lacrosse is built for a wide range of players, from kids picking up a stick for the first time to athletes looking for a structured spring sport. We focus on creating an environment where players can learn at their own pace, feel supported by their teammates and coaches, and enjoy being part of a team. Whether a child is brand new to lacrosse or coming from another sport, our goal is to make the experience positive, challenging, and rewarding.
